Beauty product reviews wasn’t something I wanted to get involved with, but I’ve found that actually I do use a lot of beauty products so you will probably find I will do the odd review here and there. As many would agree. I don’t make sure I have the next best Mac foundation or the newest “to die for” coat. No, I don’t get up a couple of hours before work to “put my face on”. I work in the world of veterinary, there’s no need for me to be glam. I’m sure Derrick the dog isn’t going to complain that I have the biggest dark circles under my eyes. I’m not saying that it’s acceptable to go to work looking like crap, but I don’t feel the need to wear make up every day. When I do wear makeup I have a comment from the boss saying “urm Laura, you’ve got black smudges under your eyes”. Note to self; must wash all makeup off in the morning shower. Besides I’d end up getting lots of spots and when I get spots, I get SPOTS!
So, moving on. I’ve decided to do a blog reviewing some of the top shampoo and conditioners you can get in your local supermarket. From the more expensive Aussie to the little bit cheaper brand like Herbal Essences. Although yes, I do wear my hair up 99.9% of the time, I still want it feeling soft and clean for as long as possible. The ‘greasy hair’ look isn’t the best. So let’s begin.
Now I’m not sure about this one. It lathers up really nicely and makes your hair feel silky when washing off the conditioner. It gives you the impression that once dried it’s going to be so soft and feel clean. But it’s the opposite, to me once dried my hair feels like I haven’t washed all of the conditioner out properly, making it feel super greasy at the roots. The rest of the hair doesn’t feel too bad. Usually I wash my hair twice a week. Yep, twice a week. However I’m finding I need to wash it more frequently with this brand so I’m giving it a 6/10.
I personally really like this brand. It’s lathers nice, washes of nice. You’re not there for ages continuously scrubbing and draining the conditioner off. Once dry it feels really clean and leaves your hair smelling good too, which is always a bonus. Plus it saves you money in the long run if you buy the larger bottles. I did this and it lasted me 4 months, maybe even longer. Crazy! It’s a 10/10 for me.
Herbal Essences have got it right when it comes to smell. Each one leaves your hair smelling beautiful. HE is probably the product that lathers up the most and with only a small quantity of it in your hand. It lathers up a lot and leaves you looking like you have a hat made of cotton wool on. I also found that it does give you a good 3-4 days of nice clean hair. However, all is not that great because whilst it does feel nice to use, leaves your hair smelling great, it unfortunately contains a lot of chemicals which aren’t great for your hair. To be honest a lot of supermarket shampoo and conditioners have a lot of chemicals, but we can’t all afford to swan into hairdressers and buy them for £10 a bottle. HE gets 9/10 for me.
